Started & lead by a current & experienced STEM educator & World Championship level Robotics coach, our camp introduces elementary school students to the joys of STEM learning in a fun, outdoor environment. Intentionally small for individualized attention, our 8-12 campers per week, play alongside kids from the several other camps meeting in Glen Park.
Our camp is ideal for kids entering 3rd through 5th grades as the foundations for Inquiry Learning in a park environment are strong for this age group. If your child is outside of this recommended age-range, please reach out directly via email to chat about whether this program would be a good fit. info@malibu-robotics.com

About Robotics:
Robotics is a fun and engaging, hands-on, experience. Helping young engineers joyfully discover their hand-built creations coming alive through their coding for the first time is a fantastic and joyful experience, one that makes the extensive effort of hosting a camp worth it.
Every Camper builds & codes their own Robot!:
Campers will hand build and code their own robots, a unique facet of this camp as almost every other camp experience has three or four campers sharing a single robot. Campers work on their individual robots in a group, and help each other. Our camp offers the unparalleled experience of campers taking empowered ownership of their creation. It's also a bunch of fun to do it this way!
FIRST Robotics Boot Camp:
After completing their week at camp, campers will have the skills and experience to seamlessly join one of the many FIRST Robotics LEGO league teams in San Francisco. FIRST LEGO league is the first level of the FIRST Robotics engineering competitions that lead to advanced, college-level, engineering experiences and associated scholarships by the time they get to high school. Robotics competitions are also a great way for STEM-minded students to have a fun & competitive team experience.
Art:
Campers use the Procreate iPad program for digital drawing and painting used by professional artists. They explore the digital versions of different artistic mediums, from pencils to oil paints.
Animation:
Campers bring their artistic creations to life using the state-of-the-art & recently released Procreate Dreams animation suite. This program vastly simplifies the animation process in a way that even young novice artists can easily bring their creations to life.
Coding & Game Design:
Campers have their own MIT scratch coding account to explore the capabilities of block coding, the precursor to more advanced coding modalities. They learn the basics of the program by creating their own versions of classic games, such as Pong and Mazes. They "look inside" the inspiring creations of others to explore more advanced coding elements, which they then use to create their own stories or games.

It turns out that STEM learning in a park setting is a fantastic way to marry real educational experiences with the active energy of kids on summer break. It is a unique offering, last year was a true blast., and this year is set to be so too.

As my extended family: three brothers, two nephews & step-mom live in the bay area, camp is a great way for me to spend time with the people I love while engaging in work I love.
Depending on the needs of the week, I'll bring on additional qualified educators for support.
Although engaged in k-12 education (I love kids!) I am a Quantum Physicist with degrees from both Stanford & MIT.

Prior to starting this camp I was the Camp Director of a very well known (200 camper a week), STEM camp at UCLA and have 7 years of experience running camps. While most camps can be very rewarding for both campers and facilitators, I greatly prefer the next-level engagement & learning in this boutique camp setting.
My graduate work at Stanford included research, which not only supported the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics on Quantum Entanglement, but shapes my world-view that if there's potentially a connection between everyone, it's best to support each other's thriving.
I am deeply passionate about nurturing a positive world, and working with young people is a method I sincerely enjoy.
